STEM Rec Challenges
April 15-19, 2019

*Our discovery garden is in need of Egg Carton Flats, the kind that come in the 5 dozen egg packs. If you have some please bring them to the front desk or the Fox Dot Store. Thank you!

Music
Gustav Holst's 'The Planets’. Following our exploration in space this last week we will be listening to classical music inspired by our Solar System. We will be creating art while we listen to the music, “How does this music inspire you? What do you think the planet looks like?”

Literacy
Musical Writing Chairs. Things are going to get really silly in literacy this week because students are going to be playing a pretty wacky writing game. We'll be playing musical chairs, but with a literacy twist! So whether you like musical chairs or writing, come check it out!

Social Studies
Mayan culture. We will learn about jade masks, the alphabet and astronomy. Come build a Mayan Temple.

Engineering and Technology
Kid Friendly Search Engines. What are kid friendly web search engines? How do I use them to learn about things I’m interested in? The internet has more uses that games and YouTube cat videos?

Math
Hopscotch. Jump, skip, add or multiple. Let’s play together!

Science
Travel to the Moon. Humans first went to the Moon in 1969. Twelve humans walked on the Moon over the next few years the most recent in 1972. And no humans have been back for 47 years! We'll talk about why humans haven't landed in the Moon in such a long time and when they might return.

Wellness Thursday
Parachutes. Parachute games and activities: Popcorn: Place a number of beanbags, small balls, or cotton balls onto the parachute. Ball Roll: Have the children try to roll the balls into the hole in the middle of the parachute. Making Waves: Children can make small, medium, or large movements to make various types of "waves."
