Art
Carving Faces
The tradition of carving faces into vegetables dates back to the Celts. As part of their autumn celebration, they carved faces into vegetables such as turnips and squash and filled them with candles to light the way for the good spirits to travel home. We continue this tradition today carving pumpkins at Halloween. In art this week, students will use carved vegetables as still lives and then create a masterpiece of their own.
