Art
Steampunk. We are going to be talking about an art form called steampunk that started in the 19th century.  We are going to make simple steampunk style transportation. This project will use mixed media paint, markers, jewels, etc.

Literacy
Animal Party. This week, literacy will be having an animal party with informational texts! Students will have a variety of books to choose from about all different types of animals. They will choose an animal they wish to learn more about and then study and read about it using the informational text provided. They'll use their fabulous art skills and create an animal example that has some of their favorite information and facts the students learned.Social Studies
80s and 90s. What was life was like in the 80s and 90s? how culture has changed over time? How do past eras have affect today? All of these answers and more at Social Studies this week.

Engineering and Technology
Windmill. Following the Engineering Design Process and using the materials from the maker space we will create our own windmills. We will be testing them to see how well they work and make tweeks to make them better.

Math
Sudoku. Sudoku is a logic-based, combinatorial number-placement puzzle. The objective is to fill a 9×9 grid with digits so that each column, each row, and each of the nine 3×3 sub grids that compose the grid contain all of the digits from 1 to 9.

Science
Fast waves. This week we'll be taking about speed. How does the speed of a sound wave compare to the speed of a light wave? What conditions affect their speed?

Music Monday
Peter and the Wolf. Music Monday this month will be watching the Disney animation of Peter and The Wolf. This will introduce us to some symphonic instruments and composition techniques used to convey story through music.  Next, we will learn a few ballet steps that we will try to incorporate into our own version of Peter and The Wolf.  We will use pantomime and dance movement to improvise our version in sync with the musical score for Peter and The Wolf and the Disney Narration.

Wellness Thursday
Soccer. Hopefully the weather will be warm enough to take the students outside.This month, we will help kids stay fit and healthy by playing soccer.  Soccer is great exercise that increases coordination, enhances flexibility, improves cardiovascular health and strength.
